For me, I would clarify it by saying that it wasn't closer to "addiction" so much as it was mirroring behaviors of what 12-step programs call "the family disease of addiction". It's something that can easily happen with codependency & Adult Children of Alcoholics (http://adultchildren.org/lit/Problem.s).
Booth's love for Brennan isn't an addiction, but he is codependent & he is a recovering addict. The lines are bound to get blurred.
(in my opinion anyway. Figurative mileage varies, obviously)
