You haven't seen my drawer of inappropriate starches?

I went to an ACA meeting yesterday (which I'll probably talk about in my next entry) & also took advantage of the weather to go for a walk & take some pictures in Forest Park. Since that's one of the things I was asked to share for that lj photo meme a while back,

For those who need a refresher, Forest Park is located downtown, smackdab in the middle of NW Portland. There are over 70 miles of trails & lots o' trees. Lots & lotsa trees. It's one of the benefits of living in the world's largest zone of temperate rainforests.

The entrance (from Macleay Park). It's where I usually start.

Those are fallen flower petals you see on the path there. My allergies weren't thrilled, but it smelled amazing.

My attempt at showing the forest's canopy. It was eighty-something degrees yesterday, but probably at least 5-10 degrees cooler in the woods. God bless shade.

You can't see it here but there were quite a few people playing with their kids in the creek. It was cute. (Speaking of cute, there was totes a little girl selling lemonade on one of the nearby streets. She had a little stand & pitcher and everything. It was so idyllic. Heh. Especially with the rosebushes lining the block & ~pretty butterflies~ going by. Seriously.)

OMG, I would not walk on those paths with a kid on my shoulders. I'm just saying. I kept staring at him like, "WOULD YOU PLEASE PUT HER DOWN BEFORE SHE FALLS OFF THE CLIFF & CRACKS HER HEAD OPEN." Heh.[/hyper-vigilant]

Obligatory Witch's Castle shot.

When I was a kid, I would've turned that into a personal playground. NGL, I kinda want to climb up the log even now.

This is what happens every summer when I bare my legs to the sun for the first time. I put the white in Whitey, yo.

Also: note my intelligent choice in hiking footwear. Athletic shoes? Who needs 'em? Let's trek over pointy rocks with blister-iffic flip flops, instead!

Oh, hi there, self. *waves to the camera*

Anyway, that's all for now. I'm gonna go be lazy on my couch for a few hours.

For my Vid of the Day, enjoy some random druggy shenanigans:

IT'S MADE OF BROWN. Heh.

Lovely pictures. It looks really beautiful. And the weather seems very nice too. Has summer finally arrived?

Yep. It'll be in the 80s for the next three days, then the 70s. Not bad!

Oh, I miss Forest Park!! I used to live just a few streets over from the lovely Macleay, so hiking out there was a very regular occurrence. Looks like it was a beautiful day - thanks for sharing the pics. They bring back great memories!

Gah, I would love to live in NW Portland (specifically, near 23rd). The houses there are so adorable.

What a pretty photo of you.

Forest Park looks beautiful. Are there lots of snakes around, or can you walk around safely?

Aw, thank you!

Hee, no, there's not a lot of snakes. In drier areas of the state you can come across rattlesnakes, so that's sometimes an issue while camping & what-not, but around here the species aren't venemous.
