I like it in the city when two worlds collide

All right my lovelies, I've got some more fun-filled ramblage for you all. This time we've got another "my nephew is crazy adorable" story to add to the list (regarding our trip to a Haunted House last night, and his apparently passionate opinion about maps, heh), and also *insert drumroll here* more Battlestar Galactica 4.5 review/recap action! I finally got around to writing up my commentary on "The Oath" this weekend (the first of a two-parter that is continued in "Blood on the Scales". P.S. These are the "ass-kicking convention" episodes I mentioned a while back), and even threw in some picspamming for good measure (and by "some" I mean "a lot", turns out. Heh). What? You thought I could make it through this two-parter without including at least a little picspamming? With all the epic bad-assery and the HOMG SHIPPERGASM action? HA, you make me laugh.

I also wrote up some stuff about Dollhouse, Glee, and So You Think You Can Dance this weekend, but I can't include all that in the same entry or it'd be waaaaaay too long. I'll probably hang onto that stuff & post it in the next day or two after catching up on Mad Men. Same goes for the next installment of BSG picspammy recapping. I had thought I could cover both of these episodes in one entry, but uh yeah. We're gonna need two entries, here. Heh.

Haunted House fun

I went with my sister, brother in law, and nephew to a local Haunted House last night (run by a bunch of high school kids for the local Youth Advisory Council). Jayden will probably have nightmares for, like, weeks. Haha. When we got there they asked us if we wanted "super scary," "medium scary," or "no scary," and Jay was like "super scary!" And, uh, yeah. Maybe next time we'll ignore him & go with "medium scary." Because that was WAY too much for a kid his age. It was decorated like a crime scene, with dead/wounded people lying on the ground, and guys jumping out at you with fake knives, and Jayden was like *huddled* into my side the entire time all "I hate this place!". But then of course right after we left he was like "let's do it again!" Hee. Figures. The kids there were great about it though, and took off their masks and waved goodbye as we left so he'd know it was all pretend. And then Jayden totally waved back like, "Goodbye monsters! Thank you!" Haha. SWEETEST KID EVER.

Also? On the way there we got lost (and it takes real skill to get lost on the way to a place that's within walking distance of your home, but we've got talent like that!), which inspired Jayden to start explaining to me why we should've brought a map, and maybe we could just go into a store and buy a map, and then finally went on this super animated rant about why he doesn't *understand* maps & how they should put a person on them (i.e. a drawing of a person), like "I can't read maps! You don't know where to go! Why don't they put a person on there? Just, like, put a little man on the map! It's not hard! You just draw a face! And stick some ears on him! And then you'll know where to go!" I was like "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, CHILD?" Haha. God, I could not stop laughing, seriously. He was SO INTO this rant. With like ~hand gestures~ and everything. I'm about ready to buy him a map next time I see him, just so I can hopefully trigger another map!tirade. Maybe this time with a camera present. Heh.

Oh, and one more thing before I jump into the tv-stuff: Before we left, we ate dinner here at my place and my sister turned on the tv and Vanguard was on, right? And I was explaining the point of the show to her, like "I LOVE this show," and Jayden piped up like "yeah, me too! It's so interesting!" Hee! GOD, THE CUTENESS, IT BURNS.

Battlestar Galactica: "The Oath," which as noted above will be continued shortly with my recap of "Blood on the Scales." FYI this two-parter can also be known as "Everyone kicks muthafuckin' ass, and P.S. Roslin & Adama totes make out in front of everyone." Or at least that's the title it has in my brain anyway. Hee.

Now, let's just jump right into it, whaddya say? This one's going to be part review/recap, part picspam, and part live-blogging, because I totally took notes as I watched it. Ha. *is the biggest nerd that ever nerded*

-The Roslin/Adama Morning After scene. OHHHHH MY GOD THE JOY. ~I'm gonna need to break out my first picspam to better illustrate my reactions~

So, you guys remember how in the last ep Roslin & Adama finally made with the nekkidness? (I KNOW I DO, ha. *does shipper cartwheels*) Right, so this episode starts out with Tigh going to Adama's quarters to give him an update on the situation with the tyllium ship and their mutiny-lovin' ways, and guess who walks in wearing Adama's robe and looking all *Morning After Happy Face* about it?

YEAH, THAT WOULD BE ROSLIN.

Look at her face! Hee. She is totally all wink-wink about it, like "What up, Tigh? Guess who got some last night?"

Meanwhile you've got Tigh expressing more "OMG WHERE AM I SUPPOSED TO LOOK, IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING" with his one eye than most people could with their whole face, haha. The best part of his reaction though is how it transitions right away from "oh my frakking Gods" into this "Well, well, then! Way to go, Bill!" look:

Heeeee. ILU, Tigh.

And what is Adama doing during all this, you may be asking yourself?

. . .He is acting like nothing is even going on, all "I DARE YOU TO SAY SOMETHING, TIGH." Heh. Way to play it cool, old man.

The moment after Tigh leaves is pretty dang cute too. Roslin--who in the previous eps had decided to step away from the heat of politics (at least temporarily)--is trying her hardest to act like she doesn't care about the tyllium ship, and it's just not working. I love how she keeps starting to give advice and having to stop herself. Hee. Oh, Roslin.

(I love how domestic they look in this pic! Also: appropriate icon is appropriate, check it!)

Then she totally calls him on the passive-aggressive look he's giving her, which is basically all "that's fine, I won't say anything about you quitting politics. . .EXCEPT WITH MY SILENT DISAPPROVING EYES". Ha. Loved that. The laugh he gives about it is cute too.

Guys, just look how happy she is, all full of post-sex banter:

Awwww, I love Happy!Roslin.

The best part though is as he's leaving:

Adama: Try to get some rest.
Roslin: *flirty* Rest?
Adama: *smiles* I'll try to be home for supper.
Roslin: *all fake 50s housewife* I'll have it ready!

Haha. LOVE IT. LOVE THEM. LOVE HER IN HIS ROBE, LOVE THEM DRINKING COFFEE TOGETHER, LOVE TIGH BEING THERE TO SEE IT, LOVE SEEING THEM GET TO BE ALL CUTE AND HAPPY IN THE MIDST OF ALL THE SAD (WHAT WITH THE DYING OF CANCER AND ALL, *SOBS*), AND GAAAAH. LOVE THE WHOLE THING.

So, yeah, that was pretty much awesome.

-The mutiny. You knew it was coming and it was awesome when it did. Awesome and painful all at the same time. Building the alliance with the rebel cylons was a necessity, and you knew Roslin & Adama were right for doing it, but at the same time it's so easy to understand why people were upset. They should've done more to make the people feel heard, and talk to them about it prior to everything going to Hell. Then again though, maybe nothing they could've done would've stemmed the outrage. People had been through way too many years of suffering due to the cylons to not have some violence break out when an attempt at peace is made, no matter what's done to try to calm the situation. And honestly, I think people were trying to go with the alliance to a degree, but after finding out their XO was a cylon all along, and then having Adama give amnesty/citizenship to the cylons on the fleet while talking about using their jumpdrives on the ships, it was just too much for people. Their way of handling that outrage was wrong, obviously, but it was still understandable. Which made the entire arc even more interesting for me.

-Continuity. Liked the Pegasus guy (Specialist Gage) coming back as well as the dad whose son was killed on New Caprica. That was a nice touch at showing how the mutiny happened for many different reasons, coming from not only places of pain & fear but also hate & ignorance. Also loved the continuity of how they kept directing your attention to Gaeta's leg. Because, seriously, Gaeta leading the uprising was not just about his (understandable) mistrust of the cylons, it was totally also about his anger over losing his leg. And of course we can't forget Zerek. He'd been so quiet for so long, but it totally made sense that he'd join in on the mutiny too.

-Tigh being funny as always. Best lines? "What do they have down there, a forest fire?" and also (re: the quorem), "It'd take a cavity search to find a backbone in that sorry bunch." Hee!

-Starbuck saving Lee. This one needs a pic!

HELLO, MY NAME IS STARBUCK AND I AM HERE TO BRING THE AWESOME. THANK YOU AND GOOD NIGHT.

Seriously, HOW BAD-ASS WAS SHE IN THESE EPISODES? NOT TO MENTION LEE? My God. But I'm getting ahead of myself, so let's get back to this scene specifically. Some of the mutineers have a gun to Lee's head, and who pops up behind them? Why, Starbuck of course. Swooping in to save the day. And not only does she shoot one of the guys, but is like "I COULD DO THIS ALL DAY, WHO'S NEXT?" And is then like "Follow me, PLEASE." FUCK, STARBUCK, YOU ARE WIN. YOU ARE WIN ALL DAY, ALL NIGHT, FOREVER & EVER. SO SAY WE ALL.

Also? Loved her grabbing Lee & kissing him, all "feels good to be alive, doesn't it?" Starbuck totally regained her passion and inner bad-assery in these eps, and same goes for Roslin.

-The deck chief from Pegasus getting killed! That poor guy made it through Cain's leadership, just to be taken out like that? And he was such a nice guy too! *makes sadface for poor dead deck chief*

-"I'll do whatever it takes," i.e. Roslin's reaction to Bill possibly losing command of his ship. HER FACE when they tell her (all *oh noes*, like "Bill!"<--awww), and her take-charge "let's go" attitude as she leads Kara/Lee out of there. Like, you knew in that moment HBIC-Laura was coming back. Also, the look Starbuck gives her! All, "you're totally in love with him, aren't you? I am so winning that pool we've had going on about you two all these years."

See what I mean?

SHE SO KNOWS. Actually, probably the whole world knows. Heh. And if they didn't already, they find out by the end of the ep! Ha. (P.S. you'll see what I'm talking about momentarily. IT INVOLVES MAKING OUT. Hee.)

-Roslin & Baltar working together. Awesome. You know I love any scene involving these two interacting. I mean, if anything for the bitchfaces & the sarcasm alone. Like, seriously:

Roslin's thoughts here: "I could still throw you out the frakking airlock, you know."

Baltar's thoughts: "Yeah, well, aren't you a little busy keeping everyone from killing each other? Guess who isn't the perfect president after all? Neener neener neener!" Ha.

Like really though, when she asks/demands to use his radio, and he's like "hmm, well, the reception down here, it's a bit *dodgy*" and he makes that face in that pic above? Makes me laugh *everytime*. Like, God, Baltar, way to be a dick. Haha. But what's great too is they don't just fight the whole time. Instead it also turns into this "let's bond over our presidential!fail, shall we?" I mean, both Baltar & Roslin had Zerek as vice-president, and Baltar chose Gaeta to be his assistant. Clearly, their judgement was a little lacking to say the least. And I loved that scene in the second ep where he points that out to her, and she sort of just nods in response, like "Touche." Heh.

OH, AND TOTALLY CAN'T FORGET THIS ONE, even though we're fast-forwarding a bit because it's in the second ep and not the first (but watch me care). For those who have never watched the deleted scenes for these episodes, I give you this little clip of joy, involving Roslin verbally bitchslapping Baltar from here to kingdom come (which, yeah, they've ripped into each other before, BUT NOT TO THIS DEGREE. IT IS AWESOME. Ha). I seriously just about jumped off my couch laughing & OMG-ing while watching this, I'm not even kidding (P.S. you'll need to turn the volume up for this one):

"Madam President, GAIUS."<---THIS! Hahaha. Also: "I don't give a frak if you want to light candles & hold hands with yourself." !!! And! "Is that clear enough for your brain, OR DO I HAVE TO SHINE A LIGHT UP YOUR ASS TO SEE IT?"<--FUCKING OMG! ROSLIN! FOR THE WIN! Hahaha. And Baltar too! With his "did you suffer from a lack of oxygen on the ride over?" OKAY, SERIOUSLY, YOU TWO? I LOVE YOU TO DEATH.

-And speaking of Baltar, he also totally made me laugh saying goodbye to his cult o' Baltar-worshippers, hee. Or his "nymph-squad" as Roslin calls them, ha. And then in the second ep, when he refers to them as his "fan club"? Hee! They totally are. I'm surprised none of them have shirts with his face on it or something. (Which, P.S. You guys know there are "Baltar is my homeboy" t-shirts out there, right? PLEASE TO BE BUYING ME ONE FOR XMAS, THANK YOU.)

-The look Adama gives Gaeta when they take over the CIC. Gaaaaah. Gaeta, you worked with him for 7 years! And now you are betraying him! You are making me so damn sad right now! Also? "This boy died honoring his uniform. You'll die with nothing." Saaaaaad.

-Aaaand oh-em-frakking-gee, best scene of the first episode, coming right up:

Roslin & Adama are reunited as she's about to flee for the cylon basestar. And TOTALLY FUCKING MAKE OUT, like right there in front of everyone, and UM YEAH. Time to break out another picspam, methinks:

*Happy to see each other*

*Really happy to see each other*

*Really, REALLY happy to see each other*.

Awkward! Haha. God, I so wish I had screencaps of everyone's reactions to this kiss. Not only are Kara & Lee in there (making that "Mom and Dad, cut it out!" face at each other, heh), but there's also Tyrol, Tigh, Baltar, one of the Sharon cylons, all in there making these "whoa" faces at the two of them. IT IS FABULOUS. Like really. WAY TO MAKE A SPECTACLE OF YOURSELVES, GUYS.

Meanwhile, as everyone's 100% gawking at them, what do they do? Why, continue embracing & gazing at one another of course:

FLAAAAAIL.

I love how Baltar has to straight-up interrupt them, like "Admiral, Madam President, please." Ha.

Seriously though, I was dying during that scene. DYING. And the look on his face as she leaves? After she tells him not to worry about her, because she knows he has to stay behind to defend his ship? GAAAAAH. MY HEART.

And ooh, would you lookie here at what I found? God bless YouTube, it's a short clip of the kissage in slo-mo set to their theme song! Aww!

*can't take it, too much squee, heart might burst*

-And then! After everyone else leaves, Adama & Tigh totally grab guns and stay behind to face off the marines all by themselves. And are like "it's been a pleasure to serve with you my friend." Aw, Adama + Tigh = BFFS 4EVA, yo!

Which, btw, reminds me, as much as I like to talk about Roslin's HBIC-ness, let's not forget Adama's. 'Cuz, seriously, he may be an old man, but you do not want to fuck with him. Trust me on this one.

Yippee ki-yay motherfrakkers.

And thus ends the first half of our recap. Oh, what's that? You'd like a little preview of what's coming up in "Blood on the Scales"? No problem! Basically it goes a little something like this:

EVERYTHING. . .

GETS. . .

EVEN. . .

CRAZIER.

Like, okay, just picture this if you will: Lee in his 007 suit storming around Galactica with Starbuck, bustin' heads & kickin' ass all up and down the block; Tyrol saving the day; Lampkin pulling a "Gaeta" on a marine (hint: think *pen*. Haha); Roslin shouting things like "Surrender, you have five minutes!" and "I SWEAR IT, I AM COMING FOR ALL OF YOU"; Adama and a crowd of supporters marching through the halls; and Gaeta and Zerek? Well, you're just gonna have to wait for that one.

Suffice it to say: IT PWNS MY DAMN LIFE.

And now, in honor of Lee & Kara's aforementioned bad-assery in these eps, they get to be in my Vid of the Day this time. Now, I know I've been so busy raving about Roslin & Adama in these posts that some of you reading this might think they're the only pairing on the show (Which, heh. But what do you expect? They are--trufax--up there with Mulder/Scully & Booth/Brennan for me at this point. I can't help the raving), but they actually aren't. Lee/Kara are another major pairing on the show as well, and I'd be remiss not to make a point of showing them a little love every now and then too.

So, with that in mind, here you go:

(P.S. this one was created by EVG4815. One of the best Lee/Kara vids I've seen so far; it captures so much of what makes me love them. And as a bonus it's even got a couple clips from these episodes! How very convenient.)

Hee, I know! I had to keep coming back to this post, like, all weekend. Haha. But it was fun.

And I hear you on the schedule thing! I have shows I've been wanting to check out for a while now, but I just haven't felt like I have the time or room in my brain for any new ones. Like, I can only fit so many obsessions up in there at any given time, you know? Heh.
