God lives in London?

Today's icon is brought to you by today's weather here in the Pacific Northwest. Could someone please explain to Mother Nature that it's supposed to be fall now? Hence the 95 degree temperatures today were a bit over-kill? Like, WTF weather, way to be on crack. Don't you know crack is wack? Whitney Houston says so and everything.
I've had a few other WTF moments today too. The first was technically in the middle of the night, when I randomly found myself half-awake and swore I saw a spider hanging in front of my face. And I literally yelped, jumped out of my bed, turned on the light, and there was nothing there. And I was like. . ."okaaaaay then, ANYWAY." Rock on with the hallucinatory night terrors there, self!
My third and final WTF of the day came from the crazypants customer who called me literally two minutes before I was supposed go home, and then proceeded to yell at me at like 90 miles an hour for the next 30 minutes straight. It took all my powers not to be like "OKAY, I get it. The gist of this is that you're a shitstain on the seat of mankind, and you're here to ruin my day. That's great for you. Hope it works out. BUT I NEED TO GO CATCH MY BUS NOW. YOU CAN KINDLY KISS MY ASS AND CALL BACK TOMORROW. EXCEPT BY TOMORROW I MEAN NEVER, BECAUSE YOU SUCK."
Ahh, the joys of handling non-compliant accounts. Heh. What fun! Truthfully though, I will actually miss certain aspects of the role when the girl I'm filling in for comes back (she's been on an extended maternity leave). I liked having coworkers asking me questions, and coming to me for things, and I really enjoyed having more responsibility and freedom. I also did way, way better at it than I thought I would. I was worried I was too nice to do a job like this, but it turns out I've got the whole "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee" thing down. Ha. So it's been a nice boost in confidence for me, professionally-speaking. At least when I go back to sales though I can start trying to get bigger bonuses again. Those are always nice. Sometimes the competitiveness of trying to meet certain sales goals can be stressful though, but it's not like dealing with the crazypants shenanigans of non-compliant customers isn't stressful either. Both roles have their pros & cons. Either way, it's cool I was chosen for it, because it's one more thing to put on my resume now, and one more thing to use in my favor toward hopefully gaining a permanent job there & moving up the ladder.
Moving on though, I had a couple quick tv-related things I wanted to talk about, re: The Emmys (which I watched on my DVR just last night because I'm super timely like that) & the most recent ep of Parks & Recreation. After all, I can't just be on here rambling about my real life all day, now can I? Not when there's ~important~ things to talk about such as television, right? Like, get your priorities straight, Rachael! Hee.
SERIOUSLY, Y'ALL, THEY TOTALLY DID. And no lie, I am TOTES taking that as a personal shout-out after my Bear McCreary homage the other day. Haha.
It was funny though, because my internal monologue while noticing it basically went like this:
Me: "oh, drama stuff coming up, cool. . .heeeey, wait a second, isn't that. . .dude, IT IS! They are totally using Battlestar Galactica music! What the hell?! Oh what, Emmys, their music is good enough for you, but you still won't nominate them for best drama or best acting because you HATE sci-fi? *glares* Oh. . .that's right, you did sort of nominate the show for best directing in a drama this year and also for best writing once previously. . . well, I suppose I'll forgive you a little, but it's not like you're showing any clips of it here! Oh, HEY THEY'RE SHOWING CLIPS OF IT HERE!"
Hee. Except then a second later I was like ". . .but why of all the clips in the world are they focusing on that scene with Anders? Guys, Anders is kind of boring. I mean, no offense to him cuz he's cool and all, but seriously you're going to show Anders instead of, like, Roslin or something? WTF, yo?" But then I realized if they were smart enough to show a Mary McDonnell clip they'd have to acknowledge their supreme dumbassery for failing to ever nominate her for an Emmy, so there you go. They did at least show some cool battle scenes in their montage though, and also squeezed some Starbuck in there, so that's good times. Plus! I greatly enjoyed the round of applause and "woo hoo!"s that came from the audience when the show appeared on the screen. I was like "aww, BSG Emmy love! My heart just grew three sizes!" Heh.
To be fair to the Emmys though, as much as they do usually have a major hate-on for sci-fi, I can't ignore how they did give Gillian Anderson the Emmy back in '97. I remember at the time I pretty much had a fangirl implosion of squee over that, haha. I was like "whaaaaa?" and then basically passed out.
I thought Neil Patrick Harris did a great job hosting, and that the show itself was actually pretty entertaining this year. I only fast-forwarded a few times (through most of the miniseries/tv movie stuff). Also? How sweet and adorable was Kristin Chenoweth's acceptance speech? "Very" is the correct answer.
Other things I enjoyed?
-Justin Timberlake's win for his SNL hosting. "Bring it on down to Omelette-Ville!" Hee.
-Tina Fey's win for her Sarah Palin awesomeness
-Neil Patrick Harris singing! Awesome![/Barney voice]
I was kinda bummed How I Met Your Mother and Big Bang Theory didn't catch any wins, though. As much as I enjoy 30 Rock, I would've much rather seen one of the other two grab an award this time. I mean, c'mon, 30 Rock, how many Emmys do you have now? A hundred? Spread the wealth, eh?
On the other hand, right after I wrote that I remembered Tina Fey upending that table with the giant fork in her hand, yelling "YOU'LL ALL HAVE CHINS!" and then I changed my mind. Give her another Emmy just for that scene alone.
Enough about the Emmys though, and onto my last quick topic of the day: Parks & Recreation. The first episode I watched sort of underwhelmed me, so I almost skipped watching the recording I had of the new episode last week, but then I decided to watch it and I was soooo glad I did. Seriously, I have no idea if future episodes will be nearly as good, but the gay penguins one? SO GREAT. Like, really. Amy Poehler's rant during the radio interview, and the driving the penguins to Iowa at the end? Oh my God. I was like "AMY POEHLER, GET OVER HERE SO I CAN HUG YOU."
That's it for today though, because I really need to get my little ass to bed. I was all set to talk about the season premiere of House as well (preview: I actually really enjoyed most of it, but have a ranty bone to pick with the writers regarding how the patients were portrayed), but that's going to have to wait because I took way longer than I thought I would just writing this & what I started of that. I swear, I just get lost in the internet sometimes. I'll start an entry, or start looking up vids on YouTube, or start reading fanfic, whatever, and I'll feel like I'm doing it for two seconds and them--bam--look at the clock and it's like "oh my God, where'd the last 2 hours go?!" I'm gonna need to institute an official "get the hell off the computer, Rachael" time for myself at night, same for "and that goes for the tv too, missy!" Because as it stands currently I never manage to get myself to bed before midnight, and then I'm up at six, and yeah. Not so much with the well-restedness.
Before I go though, here's your Vid of the Day. Today we're going with a Gilmore Girls vid, in honor of another actress I still can't believe never won an Emmy (Lauren Graham). This vid is by justlikeneon78, and it's basically just ten minutes of funny Gilmore Girls moments. How can you go wrong with that?
P.S. "Voices in the head, totally normal, right? There's only two. . .that speak English." Hee. Lorelai, I love you so damn much.
