I'm having one of my "can't quit eating" days. Hungry, hungry, hungry. It's amazing how much this tiny, little body demands for sustenance.

I'm living the very peak of excitement right now, folks. Nibbling on a powerbar, watching a marathon of COPS. The show, that is. It's definitely a marathon, too, because I watched several episodes in a row earlier today, on one channel, and am now watching more episodes on Court TV. Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do! Heh. In my defense, there was nothing on earlier, and there's nothing on now either. Plus, it's entertaining in its own voyeuristic, human trainwreck sort of way.

I can't ever hear the theme song of this show without thinking of three things:

1. Anthony Clark (comedian). He did a bit about the theme song, once, like "When I hear that song, I come-a-runnin'!" Hee. And he tried to sing it, but was all "I've never been able to figure out all the words. What is it: Nobody gonna give you no chick-en!" Haha. And he was like "Why can't they have chicken? Chicken is a tasty treat! For Christ's sake, SOMEBODY GIVE THEM SOME CHICKEN!"

2. Reggie McFadden, another comedian. His bit about the show cracks me up. LOVE it.

3. The X Files. Best. Crossover. Ever. Hee. I SO need to go watch that episode again, now, after seeing so much of the real show. For those of you who never watch the X Files, I'll explain. See, they did an episode during season 7 that was a crossover with COPS. Mulder and Scully get followed around by cameramen, as they search for something causing havoc around LA. Mulder obviously loves the cameras, Scully stops just short of flipping them off. It's good times.

Oh, dude, this thing on the show now (homeless people in the subway) is reminding me of a book I read once. I believe it was a true story, but I can't remember for sure. It was about a kid who lived in the subways of New York, back in the seventies. Anyone else read that one, and remember the title?

My easter might as well have been nonexistent. No easter basket, no candy. Certainly no religious celebration. The latter, I don't care about, but the former? Okay, I'll admit, I pouted a tiny bit. Mom was like "You guys never eat the candy, anyway!" That's not the point! Hmph. Plus, I'll eat the candy if it's candy I like! But nevermind that, I'm just used to getting at least a little something from her. Sniff.

She felt better today too, and went to the store, so she could've gotten us something! But I guess I'm supposed to be a "grown up" now? Sigh. Heh.

Anyway, though, like I said, she was feeling better today. Yesterday, she was crying from the pain, and could hardly keep her eyes open. Today, she was still complaining about the pain, but was up and about, and her eyes didn't look swollen like they did before. All in all, a good thing.

Suddenly, she's decided some of it was caused by the neurontin, though, and won't take it anymore. And she's "not sure" when (or if) they will raise the dose of depakote back up to normal. Okay, you know what? Not my problem. Let her and her doctors figure it out. Right? Right.

This is what I tell myself, anyway. I feel responsible for her well-being. Especially because I know I can't trust doctors to do the right thing. And God knows she doesn't always make the right decisions. But I can't force her to do one thing or another. And I never know whether attempts to just talk about it with her will be met with an open ear, or anger.

I helped make dinner tonight. I know, how amazing! Heh. Beating mashed potatoes, and heating up canned corn, I'm a regular chef! But, hey, it's progress, damn't. I'm trying to learn.

Now, don't get too excited, but I watched Buffy today. Hee. Well, I've watched a bit of it before, but that was just a couple minutes. I watched a good deal of the episode today. I know you're all asking "What season? Which episode?" I have no idea. All I can say is that there was an Incan mummy, with a non-authentic Peruvian accent, who was all trying to mack on everyone, thus killing them. Why? No idea, but hey. Heh. Not as bad as the one I saw before (the one with--I think--Spike being held captive by some blonde chick, and getting the crap beat out of him. Oh, and there were ugly, mutant-looking monks or something), at least. I cracked a smile at a couple things in it. Still cheesy, though. Heh. But I watched it for you guys! Feel the love!

Well, COPS is over now, and I just watched a show about Diana Dial, a paranoid schizophrenic woman in Texas who was convicted of murdering her landlord. She was so fucking obviously NUTS, I mean insanely so (no pun intended, heh), and yet she got sent to prison for sixty odd years. The jurors had been led to believe by the prosecution that she'd receive the help she needed in prison--which is the biggest crock of shit I've ever heard--and when they found out that (DUH) it didn't end up happenning, they were all "I might've given a different verdict then, because she needed help. She needs help." And the other jurors all nodded too. Sigh.

Of course she isn't being given even minimal psychiatric treatment in prison, and is still totally delusional. I mean, TOTALLY. Along with many, many other inmates in this nation. It makes me sick how the mentally ill are treated in the justice system. And don't even get me started on the mental health system in this country, in general. Oh, the RAGE! The doctor on the show, who Court TV asked to review her case, said a lot of stuff I totally agree with. Like commitment laws being changed, and strengthened. THANK YOU. God. They got rid of so many of the hospitals, during the last several decades, without really putting better--or even equal--things there to replace them. So now we have all these people on the streets, and in society, not being treated.

On top of that, if someone does need to be in a hospital? Good fucking luck getting them a bed, for longer than what? A couple weeks? And if they do get a bed? Good luck getting them proper care at the place. And like the guy on the show was saying, there's this whole thing with doctors where they try to pass off mentally ill patients to others. He had a term for it, but I can't remember it now. It's SO TRUE. Because none of them want to have to deal with them. Or simply don't have the time or resources. I could go on forever about this subject, trust me, but I'll leave it there for now. To be continued! Heh.

Meh, that's all for now, I think. Suffice it to say, my day wasn't very action-packed. I could ramble on some more about various things, but I'll be merciful and end this entry here. Heh.

Except, of course, for the PotD: April 21st. Oooh, purty. But, dude, enough with the flowers! Heh.

You're not responsible for your mom's health. That's up to her and her doctors.

SQUEE! Oh, what was that about not getting too excited? You just wait- we'll convert you yet!

And the episode you saw was "Inca Mummy Girl." Season 2.

You mean the guy just lived in the subway cars? Or like, down underneath the city?

I always wondered about rules about bus things. Because if I were homeless, I think I'd gather up $1.15 each day and just ride the air conditioned/heated bus all day, instead of be outside in the cold/hot and rain. But there must be some rules about that. Then again, if you arent a bother, I'd doubt the driver would notice or care. Especially in a subway, where there isnt driver that really moniters comings and goings. Yeah, definitely. If I were homeless, I'd ride the subway my entire life.

You know, I've wondered the same thing.

Nah, the book (and the show) were about people who actually lived underneath the city. Like, in the tunnels. See, where the train goes through, there's spaces where people could lie down in the walls and stuff, but it's dangerous since they can just roll off the bank or what have you while sleeping, and get killed by the train. Which is what happenned to one of them, during the episode I watched. Really disturbing, since he'd been dragged, and there were body parts along the track and stuff.
