You know the unemployment department is busy when you literally get a busy signal, three times in a row. Now I've finally gotten through & have the pleasure of sitting through a 63+ minute hold time, and lemme tell you, the hold music is jammin'.

Normally, when the hold is long like this, the automated system offers you a call-back when it's your turn, but not this time for some reason. Argh.

Anyway, I can't focus on writing a long entry with the ~peaceful~ muzak in my ear (I think this is what the elevator to Hell plays), but this meme's been going around my flist, and I thought I'd join in.

The problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

Get creative, guys.

Creative? I think I'm a bit too drunk to manage creative.

What would your dream house look like?

Ooh, I like that one!

You're already so open; it's hard to think of something to ask. Sooooo, I'm going to continue the dream them. Without thinking about pay, etc.: If you could do anything in the world, what would be your dream job?

Probably a world-trekking photojournalist who gets to write (for pleasure) & do whatever on the side. Or a TV writer. I can think of other things, too, heh. But those are the most "yeah, that's not gonna happen" dreamy ones.

Something spacious & modern (particularly the appliances & fixtures), yet cozy. Warm lighting, not too bright or dim, Cherry Hardwood flooring, walls that I've painted myself, an island in the kitchen, lots of trees surrounding the home, a pool with an infinity edge, and a deck in the back facing both the pool & some other body of water (the ocean, a lake, river, etc).

What's your favourite book or books? Do you read much?

I go through phases with my reading. During certain periods, I'll read a lot; other times, not much at all. So it really depends. As for my faves, I have a long list. Towards the top would be Angela's Ashes + my childhood fave, Island of the Blue Dolphins. But I'm also particularly fond of The Bluest Eye, Pride & Prejudice, Mrs. Dalloway, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, Blackbird, The Tao Te Ching, and many others.

I'm the same I find it so hard to pick books, even to pick favourite authors as I just have too many! I've not read Angela's ashes, but I did love Island of the blue dolphins as a kid too! There's a lot there I've not read (only P&P and the TTC) I will have to add them to my wish lists.

It's been a few years since I've reread Angela's Ashes, myself; I'm thinking it's time to pull it back out again. Too bad I loaned it to my grandma & never got it back. Heh. Library, here I come! (I think this is what Adama meant when he said to never lend books. Though, that would also mean libraries couldn't exist, and wouldn't that be a horrible world?)

I loved Island of the Blue Dolphins so much that I read it as a bedtime story (in chapters over the span of a few months) to my little brother, years ago.

I'm very glad libraries exist otherwise I'd be out of a job! Though the library I work in doesn't actually loan any of its books. I don't mind loaning out my books but only loan those I am happy never to see again! As so often it ends up as an indefinite loan.

I've not read it since 6 grade but I did love it. The other kids book I really liked was the Westing game. Did you ever read that?

Nope, I never read that one. I was too busy reading & rereading every other Scott O'Dell book in existence, heh. And the Sweet Valley series, but that's neither here nor there. Ha. Guilty pleasure!
