Bones
By the time I rewatch, take notes, and write up a proper review, everyone else in the world will have shared their thoughts already, so for once I'm just gonna be lazy & stick to my immediate reaction before reading everyone else's:
Basically? I liked it.
Succinct, I know. Hee. I don't know what happened to my longwinded ways either. I'll try to recover them by next week.
I will, however, add the following: (Ha, psych. TURNS OUT I'M STILL LONGWINDED AFTER ALL.)
-That might've been one of the top five grossest body reveals on the show to date. I was literally watching between the cracks of my fingers.
-Cam's bangs are so horrible that I can only deal by creating a backstory for them wherein she somehow angered the Egyptian department (because it's always the Egyptian department on this show), and so they snuck into her office one afternoon while she was napping & were all, "BOOM. CLEOPATRA'S REVENGE, SUCKA'." And then she woke up, the poor thing, & just had to make the best of a bad situation. Our Cam is a trooper that way.
-Speaking of Cam, don't think I didn't notice that BFF moment between her & Bren over the skeleton. I approve!
-The BFF moment between Angela & Brennan at the beginning was a little cheesy for my tastes, though, but that might've just been the influence of the ~cue emotions now~ background music. Y'all know how I feel about soundtrack choices. I did like the second scene with them later, where her history in foster care was briefly addressed.
-The theme of the ep was a little on the nose, but that's okay, because that's frequently how this show rolls, and I know that. The important thing is that it was a good theme -- remembering the past while learning how to let it go, building a new life, all that. It makes me glad I finished my fic before the season began, because that was a major aspect of the story for me by the end, and I wouldn't have wanted HH to steal my thunder by completing it *after* the ep had aired. Heh. Because it's all about me, you know.
-I'd say something about the "I love you"/"I love you, too" exchange, but every time I try, nothing but gibberish pours out of my brain. It's just a lot of "awww"s and not much else. Well, also cartoon hearts, but that's another matter. (I almost got verklempt while watching. Full disclosure)
-DID I MENTION THEY KISSED? They need to do more of that, mmmkay? (…In bed.[/fortune cookie moment])
-I'm still laughing over the "shoot you in the leg with an arrow" bit. Haha. Touche, Booth.
-I totally always wanted a tree house too. Can I move in?
-I appreciated the bit about Brennan knowing she'll have Booth's support/assistance now, though I do wish it hadn't been contingent upon their moving in to a brand new place together (though of course you could argue that the support would be more easily accessed with them living together, and I do think they'll be happier living together, so it's not like I DON'T want it. I just don't think it's the "only" way). But, yes, that part struck me as special for some reason. I also thought it was in character for Brennan to be so quick to be down with him moving in with her vs. moving in to a brand new place altogether. It's already a great deal of change to begin with, but less so if she's at least in the same home she's used to/she has the upperhand of control.
-Sweets has so many issues. Like, I can't even begin with him. Ha. I'm just gonna let it go & mentally try to pat him on the head. It'll make it easier for me to not want to smack it.
-This ep was a little baby!crazy!, but that's pretty understandable at this point & kinda hard to avoid. There were also a few iffy moments for me, in regards to "pregnant women are emotional! Watch out!"-type cliches & "a baby needs their mother & father/both parents in the same home!"-heteronormative stuff, but to be fair both were balanced out by other comments (mostly by Brennan), so that helped me not get too annoyed.
-It also helped that Hodgins warmed my heart all up with those spiders & his son, hee. THAT WAS CUTE. (And he loves Cam! Heee. OF COURSE HE DOES.)
-Loved Wendell's observation, re: Brennan having a baby to make the next generation feel dumb. TRUE STORY. It's a public service that needs doing.
-OH, AND (God damn't, I keep having to edit this post to add shit, haha.): "I'm not normal. I'm extraordinary." You know that's right!
-Overall: the transition into couplehood felt pretty natural to me, and I spent most of the hour smiling & laughing. The case was whatever (except I liked the dude with the violin, because I like weird brain stuff -- though, fyi? You could SO tell the actor wasn't the one playing, haha. His bow was so completely off), and I knew who the killer was the second he began speaking, but meh. The cases have been lackluster for a while now. If I at least get an episode of good character moments & a few laughs, and I *don't* want to throw things afterward, I call it a win.

-WTF was up with the air conditioner crap? SO RANDOM.
-Everything else though: love. I like that Jeff & Britta are acting more like frenemies again rather than just enemies, I liked Abed's & Troy's impressions of each other at the end, I liked Pierce's old school racist father who for some reason kept reminding me of The Colonel from KFC (shout-out to my laplander ancestors, btw! Heh), and my own daddy issues gave out a whoop in solidarity with Jeff's mini-speech at the end. I have an evil side; what can I say?
Parks & Recreation
-I was so happy for Tom & his sad little face at the end, getting kissed. YAY, TOM.
-I was actually raised to believe in reincarnation for the most part (not really sure what I believe now), and Ann's remark about it oddly offended me a little. Probably unreasonably so. I got over it like two seconds later though, so, y'know, it's all right. Heh. I still love you, Ann.
-Ron Swanson continues to be full of awesomeness. His religion is…none of your fucking business. Haha.
-April & Andy are too perfect to even discuss. P.S. I love that Jerry's sort of becoming their friend, but, like, he totally doesn't care or even want to be. Ha.
-Someone needs to deliver a gift basket of waffles to Leslie's door, y/y? I don't really care much about Ben either way, but I don't like seeing her sad. She's still funny even then, though, which is saying something.

Date: 2011-11-04 11:25 am (UTC)It was so freaking good.
I loved everything about it. The kisses, the I love you's, the the fight, the angst, the talk at the end, them in bed together, as you can see if I wanted to, I could go on forever. lol
I'm glad I have a whole week to re-watch the ep. haha!

Date: 2011-11-05 12:38 am (UTC)It really does happen, though, at least to some women. I was seriously unbalanced, careening back and forth between ball of incoherent rage and weepy-weeper. In my finest psychotic moment, I threw a shoe . . . at a cop. No lie.

Date: 2011-11-05 05:40 pm (UTC)It was so good! I did want to slap Booth a couple of times, but that's become normal for me now.
I'm glad to see you thought the body was gross too. I wondered if I'd become more squeamish over the summer because normally it doesn't bother me, but this kinda did. Didn't help that I was eating at the time.
But yay for B/B goodness! I'm so glad they're actually together together. I had worried they'd pull a "live together for the sake of the baby but still denying their feelings for each other" thing. I'm so glad they didn't. =D

Date: 2011-11-05 11:15 pm (UTC)OMG, it was so gross. I mean, SPIDER. And then BEETLES. In her BRAIN. That was just wrong. I literally spoke aloud to myself at that moment, like, "And that's why I'm going to be cremated."
Yeah, I'm super glad they're together-together as well. I wanted at least one whole season of them as a couple before the show ended, and I'm fairly certain we'll get that now.

Date: 2011-11-06 12:24 am (UTC)I LOL'd and had to read out your story of what happened to Cam's bangs to my husband because OMG. So bad. I have a friend IRL who used to have hers cut all short and severe like that and... no. Hubs also complained about her skin-tight dress but I'm used to that ;)
Am all a flutter re: BB and love and tree houses and KISSING!

Date: 2011-11-06 03:21 pm (UTC)Yeah, I wrote the first part & then realized I totally wasn't done, but was like, "Eh, I'll leave it as is. It'll be funnier that way." Heh.
It's her bangs that ruin it for me. I like short haircuts--mine was to my chin last summer--but those bangs are way too short & severe for her face.
