Aw, thanks, Dex! That's nice to hear. And yeah, I understand what you mean, with sometimes saying things on impulse, and then kicking yourself for it later. We've all been there, I think. I say things I regret or at least wish I'd said differently all the time.
And, for the record, I think the fact that you care whether those foot-in-the-mouth moments hurt people, and are even aware of it at all, means you are far from an asshole. And I respect how you make the effort to talk with people who you've had tiffs with, like through IM or what have you; it says a lot about you, to me.
