It's about to be on like Donkey Kong

For those who haven't seen it already:

The people voting so far must be high because Roslin is not winning in the BSG category & Echo is currently beating out DeWitt. And Topher is beating both of them, which I can tolerate, but Echo?! Beating DeWitt? And anyone beating Roslin? And WTF is up with Anya only having 3% of the vote for Buffy? I realize she hasn't a snowball's chance in Hell of winning, but only 3%? THIS CANNOT STAND.
And for those of you who don't watch BSG and still need a little extra help knowing who to vote for in that category? I AM HERE TO HELP:

GOD SPEED, MY FRIENDS. GOD SPEED.
Also, remember the "First Time fan-debates" in my picspam earlier? Well, shit's about to get real because I'm ready to announce my verdict on the issue for both XF and BSG.
Brawl #1: Was "All Things" the first time for Mulder & Scully?
Verdict: No.
Now, if you'd asked me my opinion on this in season 7? My verdict would've been "of course, WTF?" But that was before the stupid Shadow Man dude in season 9 told Scully he'd been watching her & knew about "that one lonely night" she let Mulder into "her" bed. Not Mulder's bed, HER bed. "All Things" happened at Mulder's place. So, knowing that, and knowing about that flashback scene in "Per Manum", here's my version of the First Time Sexings:
Mulder & Scully's first time happened immediately after the "Per Manum" flashbacks of "oh noes, in vitro FAIL!"-sadness, which I am guessing took place sometime after their New Years Eve kiss but before "All Things". Then, after they had sex, they both decided--without talking about it of course, because that's how they roll--to move on & act like nothing happened. This explains why Scully's all "I don't know what I have" when her old boy-toy asks her if she's involved with anyone in "All Things". But fortunately for our Scullz, she is able to accept that her place is with Mulder during that episode, which leads to their second time in the hay together at the end (after he leaves her on the couch, she wakes up and crawls into bed with him: *cue sexytimes*). This theory also explains the rise & fall of flirtyness between them throughout the 7th season. Right before "Millennium" I believe they were starting to try the in vitro--hence the first rise of flirtyness--and then it chilled out for a while until "All Things", when it increased again. BOOYAH, CASE CLOSED.
Brawl #2: Did Roslin & Adama frak on New Caprica?
Verdict: Let's let Adama address that, shall we?

In other words: No. THAT'S RIGHT, I SAID IT.
(hee, I can't wait to see the comments to this. It's just gonna be a landslide of "BITCH IS YOU CRAZY" comments, one after another. I know it)
And to really get the debate rolling: While I'm at least open to the possibility that they got it on after "The Hub", most of me has always believed--and continues to believe--that they did not consummate the relationship until the end-scene of "A Disquiet Follows My Soul." Oh yes, that's right, I'm siding with RDM on this one. I KNOW, I don't like it either.
Here's how it goes in my mind:
They first kissed in "Resurrection Ship Part II", then went back to their normal professional selves without any fuss. They both had too much in their lives to focus on as leaders--not to mention their personal issues & emotional walls--to let go & be together at that time.
Fast-forward to season 3: New Caprica happens, and they are as close to getting it on as they've ever been. But they don't, because they're still not ready. Adama is still tied to his ship and Laura's on the ground, and I don't think Adama wanted a part-time relationship with her. I think he convinced himself he had to keep his distance still because he couldn't settle on New Caprica himself, and didn't want to ruin what they had by being away all the time like with his first marriage. Not that this kept them from getting all snuggly-wuggly under the stars of course, but I don't think it went further than that (although I will concede there might've been some friskyness, but no full-on sexytimes. Even though I do have an icon that jokes about it, hee. But hey, I love the icon, okay? DON'T JUDGE). And I think he was too reserved & gentlemanly to move things past that upon subsequent visits to New Caprica. I think they missed their window that night & went back to dancing around each other for the rest of her time there.
And then, after New Caprica, Laura was back to being president and they'd been separated for so long, I think it took them a little time to decide where they stood with each other again. They got extremely flirty at the end of season 3, but it was still in a tentative way (imo), and to me that was just them testing the waters with each other & acknowledging what was between them. But they weren't ready to move past that yet, especially with the pressures of getting back into their normal roles as leaders of the fleet. I think they both still saw it as something they wanted, but something that wasn't appropriate to act on.
And then of course the trial happened and her cancer came back and Starbuck died (. . .PSYCH! Haha), all of which got in the way of them getting together temporarily. In the long run though I think her cancer's return is what actually finally helped to bring them together, along with the fact that she stayed in his quarters for a while. By the time "The Hub" happened, they were both ready at last to fully acknowledge what was between them *verbally*, but I still don't think they had the time to actually act on it yet. Because immediately after "The Hub", EarthFAIL followed right behind it, which as we all know frakked everything right up.
But after EarthFAIL, and after Roslin's temporary retreat from everyone (including Bill), her loss allowed her to basically say "frak it" to her responsibilities and just live for a while, which included some long-overdue frakking. This is not to say that she didn't care about the fleet anymore at all, but prior to "Revelations" her primary goal was to lead her people to Earth. Nothing else mattered. After their arrival on nuked!Earth, I think it was MUCH easier for her to say to herself, "Self, you are dying, and you may not be the Dying Leader you thought you were. Earth was a joke, and you don't have a lot of time left. So how's about we take advantage of the little time we do have left to jump on that man?"
And as for Bill? After Roslin's speech to him in the hallway about having earned the right to live, I don't think he could resist acting on that with her. So, at last, sexytimes were finally had. Hence the "omgggg Bill & Laura are nekkid" scene at the end of "A Disquiet Follows My Soul."
And there you have it, folks! My theory, laid out all pretty for everyone to rip apart. Hee. And. . .GO. *rings bell*
For our Vid of the Day, I can't think of a better one than this clip showing how Roslin will act if she doesn't win for favorite BSG character. DON'T PISS THIS WOMAN OFF, PEOPLE. IT WON'T BE PRETTY:

Date: 2010-03-03 08:00 am (UTC)I have to say, that I am one who goes back an forth on a given day as to when I think Laura and Bill consummated. You have a well formed argument, and I soo want to jump to your side completely; but I cant get past the possibility of them having been together on New Caprica.
I can see what (I think) both EJO and MM originally (though I believe they have both since changed their stories) said about them having had their first time be on NC, and then randomly being together till they finally fully opened their hearts to each other (finally...at the same time...) in Disquiet. (I can actually go into much more detail on that theory, but I tried to keep it short..ish.)
Btw, LOVED the vid. It's one of my all time favorite scenes...and episodes. She rocks that scene. I've actually tried watching to hear what Gaius is saying and Laura's voice always overshadows!! She totally won that shouting match! She pwns him!

Date: 2010-03-03 06:32 pm (UTC)Right? I saw that & was like, "Okay, apparently there's this whole other part of the fandom which is immune to Roslin's awesomeness. MY WHOLE WORLD IS ASKEW." Probably hasn't helped that my main exposure to the BSG fandom has been at
To be fair, sometimes I go back & forth about them too. But when I first watched the show, my initial assumption was what I wrote above, and it's what I always go back to. But it is fun to sometimes think they could've gone the route you talk about above. At least then she could've had her hair! Still, my theory just makes the most sense to me, and I kinda love the tragic beauty of it too.
Btw, LOVED the vid. It's one of my all time favorite scenes...and episodes
ME TOO. Love, love, love that episode. And OMG I'd never understood what he yelled at the end of that clip before either, but then suddenly just got it now & can not stop laughing over it. I'm pretty sure it was: "What did I ever do for you, huh? Just save your bleeding life!" HAHAHA. (((Baltar)))

Date: 2010-03-03 08:09 am (UTC)Heh. Sorry, had to do it. =P
I think you're right. Laura and Bill didn't get it on on New Caprica. I would really like to believe they did, but my logic concludes otherwise, lol.
I think they both still saw it as something they wanted, but something that wasn't appropriate to act on.
This.
Oh, and I !!!LOVE!!! that scene. Fierce!Laura is FIERCE. =D =D
I was sooo impressed when I saw that. One of my favourite scenes ever!
Oh, and I really should start watching X-Files. During this month, I can watch Sci Fi Channel/Syfy (It's a channel-of-the-month-thingy), and they're broadcasting the X-Files, so yay!

Date: 2010-03-03 06:40 pm (UTC)I think you're right
Yaaaaay. Score one for the home team! Ha.
My jaw DROPPED while watching that scene. I was like "WAY IT BRING IT, MARY." I had the same kind of reaction during "Blood on the Scales," except times ten. EPIC PWNAGE FTW.

Awesome! OMG I love watching people get into new fandoms! Ha. It's my favorite thing ever. Seriously though, get ready to be SUPER sucked in. That show owned my ass for soooooo many years.

Date: 2010-03-03 08:45 am (UTC)Emotionally, I'm going NOOOOOOOOOOOOO, please gods, let them have had sexytiems at least ONCE while she had her hair and while she was healthy and while they had the time to -uhh- have a go at it without all the emo and without falling apart and without NOT DOING THEIR DUTIES, THANK YOU RDM FOR SOURING THE MOMENT and so on and so on. (I have issues with A Disquiet Follows My Soul.)
So, I'm all with the canon, but I take the liberty to take the occasional sidestep, after which I faithfully return to it.

Date: 2010-03-03 06:46 pm (UTC)Ah, but see, that's one of the things I love about them living in his quarters without doing anything: THE UST. I just wish we could've seen more of it. To be fair though, I won't argue that something didn't take place between them before Disquiet. I'll totally buy that. I just don't think they took it all the way.

Date: 2010-03-03 02:08 pm (UTC)I'm still out with Roslin and Adama. I can't decide! All I know is that I don't believe ADFMS was their first time. I think it was their first "Frak the fleet, let's just be together" time.

Date: 2010-03-03 02:58 pm (UTC)Totally agree.
I mean, we didn't see Mulder and Scully gettin' it on, yet she became pregnant, so they were obviously having sex. And they, too, like Laura and Bill, were dealing with a lot of heavy shit, but leaned on each other. (justlikelauraandbill)

Date: 2010-03-04 03:46 am (UTC)Though I was only 12 when I started watching and even though I was reading all the lusty fanfiction, I don't know how much I thought about any of this at the time.
But definitely now, when I take in the show as a whole, I can't imagine Mulder and Scully not sleeping together after the third season. It totally makes sense in my head, I swear!

Date: 2010-03-04 05:21 am (UTC)Totally possible. I think when you get into a show makes a huge difference in how you view it.
Hee at 12-year-old you reading lusty fanfic. And I thought I was bad reading it at 15!
It totally makes sense in my head, I swear!
Well, that's what important. Even though it's WRONG. Haha.[/messing with you] :-)

And WORD on Eliza's acting. I mean, I love her, and Faith is awesome, but Olivia Williams kicked Dushku's ass up & down the block on that show.

Date: 2010-03-04 02:41 am (UTC)Yeah, I know what you mean there. Like I said above, I'm flexible that they may have gotten together right after The Hub, but my normal standpoint is that ADFMS was the first time. I honestly think part of why I hold to it is because I like having a clear place to point to & say "that's when they got together, and canon can support it." I got tired of the ambiguous "when did they get together" game I had to play with XF for all those years. I want a clear answer now!
But in all seriousness, I actually totally respect & get why people believe they got together in season 3, and can see the appeal of it. It is sad they didn't have more time together, afterall. But I also think it lends even more beauty & preciousness to the time they did spend together, because they had so little of it, and because they embraced it so whole heartedly. I thought it was lovely.

Date: 2010-03-03 09:00 pm (UTC)but i'm not sure about A&R. I believe stuff happened before, but i can't commit to them never having the full on sexy tiems until Disquiet. i'm on the fence....
(no subject)
Date: 2010-03-04 02:52 am (UTC)Why does that not surprise me? Haha. I ♥ shippers. Really, I think the intention at first was to imply that All Things was their first time, but then the writers got a hold of some of Roslin's weed (nonsensical fandom collisions FTW!) & forgot that, and wrote that Shadowman scene in season 9. Now everyone has to either ignore the continuity error, or fanwank it as I've done. Damn you, CC! Couldn't have just given us a clear "this is where they did the naked pretzel" episode to point to, could you? Wanker.
And see, here I always thought you were a committed "they frakked on New Caprica" girl. I did not know you were on the fence! But don't worry, I heart you either way, bb. Hee.
