All right, my lovely flist, the Shipper Showdown is officially over and your votes have been counted. May I have a drumroll please?

A huge thank you to everyone who participated, whether it was just to vote (even those of you who voted for more than one pairing, thus totally making your votes moot. Ha) or leave a comment, and a GIANT shout-out to those of you who hung out all day campaigning and making this showdown a complete blast for me. Three of you in particular--[livejournal.com profile] sumpta, [livejournal.com profile] crystalcazzie, and [livejournal.com profile] softly_me--pwned the shit out of this thing by taking my request for spam to a WHOLE 'nother level. Haha. Seriously, you guys kick epic amounts of ass and are legit my homegirls now.

Also, just for the record, the following new developments have sprung from today's shippery shenanigans:

-I will be checking out Farscape in the near future (this is thanks to you, [livejournal.com profile] careyleah)

-I will also be checking out NCIS ([livejournal.com profile] crystalcazzie, that one's all you)

-It's possible I may have added Buffy/Xander to my list of never-ending ships for Buffy (damn yoooooou, [livejournal.com profile] softly_me! Like I needed another ship!)

-Adama & Roslin took over the throne of #1 ship for me about midway through the campaign, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sumpta and her mighty arsenal of thread bombs, .gifs, vids, references to nekkid sexytimes, and cruelly adorable pics & quotes (she quoted him reading to her at me! How was I supposed to resist THAT?). I still maintain that Mulder & Scully are my favorite old-school ship, and will always be #1 in my heart in many ways, but she held me down until I cried uncle and admitted that Adama/Roslin are the most perfect ship in my eyes. Which they are. But I feel like I need to go hug my X-Files DVDs and apologize to them or something. Haha. I HAVE ISSUES. (but hey, at least I got in a good deal of campaigning for Moose & Squirrel before then! Which either makes me a bigger traitor, or less of a traitor. I'm not sure. Heh)

Anyway, that's about it for tonight, because I've seriously been at this computer almost non-stop since 8 o'clock this morning. Aside from doing some laundry & making dinner, I really haven't moved much. If my neck had a hand, it'd probably be flipping me the bird right about now. Just sayin'.

(oh, and speaking of my total lack of productiveness today. . .that goal for finishing the epic Roslin picspam I mentioned by Tuesday? Yeah, I doubt that's gonna happen. Heh. But for sure I imagine I can have it done sometime this week. I figure the week of the anniversary still counts, right?)

Finally, before I go I will leave you all with a two-for-one-special Vid of the Day to celebrate our fine winners. These (along with a few others you can bet your asses I'll be reccing in the near future) were both posted by Ms. Thang up there in her comments today, and are too good not to pass along.

Vid #1: This one's by gglagazelle (or claraon, depending on whether you go by the name in the vid or the youtube name), and is just about one of the cutest, crackiest things I've ever seen. It's also the reason why I haven't been able to get "Bare Necessities" out of my head all day. Thanks for that. (psst, [livejournal.com profile] treeofstars, I know you in particular will love this one).

Vid #2: This one is by pennyfeline and straight-up moved me to tears, no lie. Between the perfect song and the "I'm right here" from Roslin and the "I like it so much I don't want it to be over" quote from Adama at the end as they're walking off? GAH. I may tear up all over again, for real. So, yeah, it's a wonderful vid to end this day on, and I hope you all enjoy. :-)

Oh, man, I'm not sure whether to flutter my lashes and puff up my chest from pride or hide, hide, run awaaaaaaaay, oh, the shame. Well, I had fun (obviously), and I must say that I'm mightily pleased. The spam was not for nought.

Seriously, you guys kick epic amounts of ass and are legit my homegirls now.

Heh, homegirl, crazy stalker, clingy nut... there are so many ways to word it.

It was so much fun! And even though my choice didn't win I'm very happy for Bill and Laura. I'm now imagining you making a trophy for them, which they display in pride of place over the fireplace in their cabin!

Also, Farscape and NCIS are both awesome so you're in for a treat. :)

Aww, their cabin. ♥ I'm such a dork, I like to think they finally got to share that cabin after Bill joined her. :-)

I'm excited! I'm not sure if I'll get to check them out before the summer (when I usually get into new shows, since everything's on hiatus), but I'm looking forward to it. NCIS actually stands a better chance of being watched first though because I can just try to catch a few current eps with my DVR, rather than start the grand task of renting DVDs & doing a watch from the beginning.

Wait, how did my comment end up as a reply to [livejournal.com profile] sumpta? I was sure I clicked the right thing. Clearly I fail hard.

Watching current NCIS is probably a good plan. The first two seasons have Kate in. Ziva appears in season three and, although it is just my personal opinion, I much prefer Ziva to Kate!

Sounds good to me! I'm more interested in it for Ziva anyway, because my shipper ways are drawn to all the Tony/Ziva talk I've heard.

It most definitely wasn't! And I really do think you got the ball rollin' to inspire the few others who campaigned to join in too, so thanks. :)

I concur! And I'm probably crazy for thinking of this, but since so many people had more than one ship they loved in the list--making it hard to only campaign/vote for one--maybe I could do something like a "campaign for your favorite ships to make everyone else love them" thing (i.e. not a poll, just a free-for-all). Or even a "campaign for shows everyone should be forced to watch" deal. And then maybe with the latter, do a ticky box poll in that case where people check which shows they've been convinced to watch by all the campaigning, and then the top 3 picks everyone's forced to watch at least once? I AM A CRAZY PERSON. Ha. But doesn't that sound fun?

Yes! I want this! Or maybe you could even make the ship battle more bracket style so it lasts longer. First we could vote on the top ship from each show and then it could go from there.

Yeah, that's what [livejournal.com profile] britishwannabe1 and I got to talking about when I first posted the idea--to do a bracket one and pimp it out to various communities like Fandom March Madness--but I figured I'd start out with a small one-day event for my flist as people would be too exhausted by FMM to do anything more yet. Heh. (plus I just wanted to see who my flist would campaign for & have fun with them) But I definitely think it would be fun now to try it out on a bigger playing field. In order to make it a huge deal though, we'd need time to prepare for it and get the word out. Maybe we could plan for it to happen in the summer, when all the student fangirls are on vacation? And then by then more people would have the chance to know about it too (perhaps we could even just let the person who runs FMM know and see if she wants to be associated with it? Not mod it necessarily, as I'm sure once-a-year is more than enough for her, but she could give her ok for us to run with the idea since it's inspired by her own, and help plan it or something?). We'll have to see. I'd really love to see it happen though.

For sure I'm going to do the "Campaign for your shows" thing though, because omg that sounds like fun. There wouldn't be the pressure to pick only one show, you could just go balls-out representing for ALL your shows. It'd bring people together *and* give them new shows to get into. Plus if there's anything I know about my flist, it's that they love trying to convert others to their fandoms. Ha. I think I'll plan for that at the end of the tv season though, because I know I always plan to check out new shows during the summer anyway, and I think a lot of others are the same.

I suppose it's a good idea to hold off until the summer. (I think I might actually fail my classes if there's another full-blown bracket showdown.) If you decide to go ahead with it, let me know if there's anything I can do to help. I'd love to plan for it or just pimp it to my communities or whatever you need. (Although, you realize, we'd totally be asking for it. They're called 'Shipper Wars' for a reason.)

Not that I need anymore awesome shows to watch, but I'd definitely love to spam everyone with my favorite pics/videos/gifs/etc from all the incredible shows I watch. (And, inevitably, decide to watch even more tv myself.)

I will definitely take you up on that if it happens. I'd much rather plan it with others anyway, so I could help but not be solely responsible for it. And yeah, shippers can get. . .shall we say "feisty"? Ha.

And the free-for-all show campaign is totally something I'm gonna do, I think. I posted about it tonight in my entry to gauge people's interest, but again am probably not going to do it until the end of the tv season. If I do though, do you think it'd be worth pimping to other people's flists to make it a big deal? Or make it last longer than a day? Or would that be too hard to manage? Hmm, decisions, decisions. . .

Yes! I now have an official status on your flist! I think all my campaiging just proves how crazy I am and how much freetime I have on Sunday nights. (By the way, I posted my picspam over on [livejournal.com profile] buffyxander, which is a great place to find fic if you ever find yourself wanting to read some *is shameless*)

Dude, totally. I really feel like I got to become pals with all three of you. Does that make me a dork? Probably. But I don't care! We bonded over Buffy comics & shipping Buffy with everyone under the sun! That's some good times right there!

And ha, at least you were only around during the night! I was there ALL DAY. My sister called asking to use my computer & I told her no because I was doing the showdown, and she got all mad at me. Hee.

Heh, you ARE shameless. I'm not quite to the fanfic stage for them yet! But I will admit I will never be able to watch Xander/Buffy scenes again without looking for secret shippyness now. Is there an lj comm for Buffy/Faith though? Because if there is, I'd be all over it.

P.S. I watched "This Year's Girl" and "Who Are You" again tonight, because of all this Buffy talk. Ha. Then followed it up with "Storyteller." (((ANDREW))).

Oh, we're definitely pals! And dorky ones at that. All the Buffy shipping plus, as the only two people in the world who like Lorelai/Christopher, we've got to stick together.

Sisters so rarely understand the importance of fandom things. My roommate asked what I was doing and my response was 'Uh... there are important things happening... on the internet.'

No worries! I wouldn't want to rush you. It's best to just let those B/X thoughts settle for a bit. [livejournal.com profile] buffyfaith is a great one that I belong too. And this is another good comm for all kinds of Faith femslash, [livejournal.com profile] faith_slash

Those are all such a great episodes. Both Eliza and Sarah pull off the switch acting perfectly. They really should get some more credit for their amazingness. ANDREW IS THE BEST. (Not to continue to taunt you with comic details, but there is totally a comic where Andrew makes another documentary. Just saying.)

Word! Finally, someone I can admit to having both Luke/Lorelai & Christopher/Lorelai fanvids in my youtube favorites! Hee.

'Uh... there are important things happening... on the internet.'

Ha. I can imagine the reaction you got. "Uhh, all righty then. You have fun with that."

And yay, a Buffy/Faith comm! Thank you! I will SO be joining it.

Duuuuude, really? One more reason to get back into them then.

I hear you about Mulder and Scully. I can't choose A/R over them, even though Bill and Laura own me right now. There is a line from The Prince of Tides, a man loves his wife, and his lover. His lover asks, "Do you love her more?" "No," he replies. "Just longer." tis how I feel about my ships. :)

and that vid was epic! someone has an icon of the Denialand cabin that's in the vid, I need it! cause I live there. :-/

Ahhh, damn you! That's a good point. WHERE WERE YOU YESTERDAY TO HELP ME FEND OFF SUMPTA? Haha.

Seriously though, I'm just gonna give up & call it a tie. They're both my #1 ships in different ways. A/R is my #1 example of a perfectly written/completely satisfying ship, and M/S is my #1 epic "I've loved them for 14 years and always will" ship. We're all just gonna have a threesome and make the best of it.

*edited to add: Except I will say that if there ends up being a more massive Shipper Showdown in the future (like one with many communities involved, etc), I'd be very likely to switch my vote back to M/S. I'm complicated like that. Hee.
