Think I've got the message figured

I'm sorry I've been such a slacker, guys. I still haven't rewatched Bones/written up a review yet. On top of that, I'm super behind on my flist as well. In my defense, however, I've been feeling sick as CRAP (and trying not to complain about it--which I just spoiled. Natch). Aunt Flo is kicking my hide.
Also, I think I'm getting a cold. What is THAT about?
Anyway, enough with the whining. At least lying around cursing the heavens gave me an excuse to rewatch the BSG miniseries (i.e. no note-taking needed there; I could just kick back & chillax), which reminded me how much I love the whole premise of that show. Number one: why are we, as a people, worth saving? And, number two: what if God--if he exists--decided to give a soul to another entity? What if he decided we were a mistake? If there is no such thing as God, but we created another race of sentient beings, who's to say they wouldn't have a soul? How do you define a soul? How do we know if we even have one?
I've said it before & I'll say it again: I LOVE THIS SHOOWWWWWWWW. Especially because, as those of you on my flist who have watched the whole series know, the miniseries is *nothing* compared to, say, season 2 or 3 (Pegasus! New Caprica!). It gets CRAZY good/thought-provoking.
It's very possible I'm about to start a rewatch of the whole thing. I think it's been long enough to where I'd appreciate it all over again. I'll have to do it slowly though, so I can make time for my current shows/fic writing/etc. We'll see.
P.S. For those who haven't watched BSG yet? This is what awaits you:
"It couldn't possibly be that bad-ass," I can hear you saying. And no, it's not. IT'S MORE BAD-ASS.[/biased] Heh. I mean, seriously though. If you join our fandom, you know what you're also getting? Bear McCreary. Let me say that again: BEAR MCCREARY.
In other words:
WAY TO ROCK THAT GAYATRI MANTRA, MY GOOD MAN. Keep on keepin' on.
Changing subjects now, but staying on the music theme, I spent some time last night watching YouTube vids (as is my wont) and thought I'd share some with you guys since they're super sweet/moving.
I've mentioned the PS22 Chorus here before (back in 2009. Aww, that entry has cute Jayden/Isabella pics too), but I figured some of you might still have never seen them. They make me smile every time, for SO many reasons (coolest. music. teacher. EVER), and so I figured I'd share a few clips here now to spread the happyfaced goodtimes.

My HS sophomore yearbook quote came from this song. I love his choices.

THE EMOTION IN THIS LITTLE BOY'S FACE/VOICE. This is such a mature song that he chose (and one of my faves from way back, fyi). I want to squish him forever.

I. will. not. cry. I will not!

LOOK AT THAT LITTLE 3RD GRADER. JUST LOOK AT HIM, SINGING BJORK. I can't even take it.
I just love this teacher so, so much. Honestly, this man is fantastic. For years now he's been introducing everyday public school students to amazing music (across all genres. He's got Jay-Z, Massive Attack, Cat Stevens, EVERYTHING), bringing them out of their shells & giving them confidence, showing them how to have fun & be passionate about the emotion & artistry of music, & then sharing it with the world for all to enjoy. He's just awesome. Especially because he practically fainted like a fangirl when Tori Amos came to meet them. Hee. BEST.
All right, that's all for now. No Vid of the Day this time, because this entry already has enough vids as it is. I'm gonna try to make my next entry the Bones recap. Hold me to it!
