1. A very Happy Birthday to my long-time lurker friend, [livejournal.com profile] tenik. If you're reading this, bb, I hope you have a great day!

2. Good news: I got the job. I'll be starting next Monday at $14/hr, which, for those keeping track, is the most I've ever made by one whole dollar. My schedule will be Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm. I'm relieved I have a few days to prepare -- y'know, get my sleep schedule in order, figure out things to bring for lunch, see my counselor on Friday, and drag my ass shopping & then to the cleaners (to inevitably have whatever slacks I buy hemmed five thousand inches). Fortunately, my temp agency pays weekly; I just need to do some math & determine how much I can give my manager for rent this month & talk with her about it.

3. I clearly suck at being a girl these days, because the mere prospect of venturing into a mall has me already exhausted, and I haven't even jumped in the shower yet. Heh. Especially since I know I need to find a pair of boots as well--long overdue--and I HATE shoe shopping. Haaaate. (Size 4 feet FTW! Except not.) Though I do like the idea of searching for something cute to wear in general; I really haven't had the ability to do that in a long time. I don't have very much to spend though, but I also don't have much of a choice. I have to get SOMETHING. You can't wear jeans there, except on Fridays, and it's getting too cold to pull off open-toed sandals. I'm going to try on some of my old work tops first though as a few of them might still fit. We'll see.

P.S. I wanted to thank everyone again for their support over the last two months (I can't btw freaking believe it's already been almost two months since I lost that job. I swear to God, this entire year has been a blur. Like, ridiculously so. It's almost unreal. Mostly all I can see when I look back at 2011 is a giant fog of depression, which is saying a lot after the Good Times Bonanza of 2010). It really means so much to me. Things could've gone very differently. And I'm by no means ~out of the woods~, but I have hope that I'm going in the right direction again. I mean, I'm trying, so by that fact alone, it's right. In the end, that's all I can do.

4. I'm still working on that Stress List, and I cleaned off my desk, table, and bedroom dresser last night. Lots o' dust, that's all I can say. It feels right now like I'll never get my bedroom floor clear (so many clothes, ugh), but eventually I know I will. Little by little. Goodwill's gonna get a big donation, as will the Food Bank (I have quite a few non-expired canned goods & such with gluten in them. They're no good to me now). It'll feel good to give back, especially so soon after I needed to use a food pantry myself.

5. It seems like I should talk about TV. I'm feeling lazy though, but here goes:

Parenthood

-I love Sarah, but I want to strangle her right now. Someone buy her a copy of Codependent No More already, Jesus. I do get it though, because I've been there, but it's so frustrating to watch from the perspective of an outsider. I want to reach through the screen & yell at her that she's living his life more than she's living her own, that addiction is a family disease & none of them can recover if they're all still this enmeshed in each other's crap and refuse to detach enough to handle their own shit. I mean, being supportive is of the good, yes, but she's doing a lot more than that, and it's bound to backfire in some way.

-That new baby is effing cute. Just for the record. Heh. WANT TO SQUISH.

-Still loving the dynamic between Julia & the coffee cart girl. I also love how intense Julia is all the time, hee. She just can't help herself.

Castle

Still watching, and I enjoyed this week's episode, though I couldn't quite get over why the one bank robber was all, "I'm gonna kill you last" for no reason. I mean, even if they planned to bomb their way out, they locked everyone up first & then went together into the room where they died. I know they got blown up there by accident, because it went off too early, but the fact that they went in there together in the first place implies they were on their way *out* together. What kind of logic would have them do that if they were going to loop back & still kill people? It doesn't make sense. Also, why go to that much trouble to break into a bunch of safety deposit boxes at all, regardless of his motive? Why not hire the crew & just break in overnight or at a less busy time? It was too contrived for me. Also, Beckett's jacket was way too wide for her shoulders, and it kept distracting me. Heh. That being said, I enjoyed the rest of the episode.

Hawaii Five-O

I decided to give this show a shot after seeing it on my flist so much. Also, I missed Boomer. Heh. That, too. I wasn't super drawn in, honestly, but I love Grace Park, so I may keep watching. The only real reaction I had was that Danno is a douchey toolbag. Or at least that's how he came off this week, imo.

That's all for now. I'll have a lot more TV stuff to talk about by tomorrow night, I'm sure. New Psych, Community, Parks & Rec, AND Bones. Hollaaaa.

I don't listen to the radio much anymore, because they changed my favorite hip-hop station (I do still listen to the classical station sometimes though, but there's not a lot of repeat songs played on there, obviously. They've got centuries of music to choose from, heh), but this is one I remember getting played all the time back in the day. I still like it.

I found the robbery set up a little contrived in Castle too - and not sure why the main guy would have been so especially sinister if he was just a hired hand etc. Hmmm.

Danno is not really a douche, he just has ISSUES. Like his daughter living back with her mom and step-dad who her mom nearly left for Danny at the end of last season until she found out the baby she was carrying wasn't Danny's but the step-dads. Following this? LOL.

In fairness to Danno, it might've been partially his haircut. Heh.

Yeah, the whole bank robbery/explosion/wtfery was just too damned complicated for me to give too much of a shit. I was like, whaaaaa? oh wait! I don't actually care because there are goo-goo eyes being made.

The best thing about H50 is Steve and Danny bickering like an old married couple. Even I have trouble believing they're not secretly boning each other. The second best thing is how they very often need to take off their shirts in the line of duty. :-P

Steve is not bad looking, so I'd be down to see him shirtless. I'm rarely into blond guys though; I'd be more interested in seeing Kono on the beach. I hear that happens on this show semi-regularly though, y/y?

I'm also rarely into blond guys, with a glaring exception (*cough* Spike *cough*) but I do sort of find his snarkiness semi-attractive.

And yes, Kono often prances around in the world's tiniest bikini. The entire show is an all-you-can-eat buffet of nekkid at times.
