rachg82It's only the beginning of April, yet the temperature has been hovering between 80 and 85 degrees here in Portlandia since yesterday. That's well over twenty degrees above average for this time of year. But climate change is a myth, y'all! Ugh. I have this mental image of me walking outside in twenty years & just bursting into flames. We'll probably all have to make our way around the city inside giant, UV-protected, air-conditioned hamster wheels.
Anyway, I have quite a bit of RL stuff piling up to cover, but I want to start my day out with something easier. So, wasting time with memes it is!

This has changed throughout my life more than once (previous dream jobs have included being an artist, a singer--or seenaw, as I pronounced it back then--an advertising copywriter, a social scientist of some sort, and a photo-journalist, among others), so who knows if I'll feel the same way in a decade, but right now I would have to say a writer/poet. Of course I highly doubt I'd actually be able to make a living off that, so my ideal day job would be either a tutor or teacher. As for what kind of teacher, probably elementary (5th grade sounds good), but I've also felt drawn to teaching ESL to adults (I've had a passion for advocating for immigrants since high school, and I'm a sucker forobnoxiously correcting people's grammar. To think I could get paid for it!), so I can see myself going in either direction. I also really like the idea of being a tutor, because it would allow me to develop a more personal connection with my students, and it would probably be less overwhelming than dealing with a class full of hyper children. If I were to become an elementary school teacher, I'd have to really work at adjusting to a higher level of sensory input. I tend to be very sensitive to noise, and I sometimes get overwhelmed just by the hijinks of my nephew & niece when they're together. So I'm not totally sure being a teacher would even work for me. That's the main reason for why tutoring might take its place, along with the fact that I could do it part-time if I were still on disability by then & unable to tackle a full-time position.
Day 18 - name the TV show you have become addicted to
The most recent one would be Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.a2zmom did a rec post for it a while back, and I liked all the clips she shared, but it still took me a long time to finally check it out. Once I did, it was like, "Oh, this is actually legitimately fantastic. I guess she wasn't exaggerating!"
To give you a taste of why I love it so much (aside from predictable stuff like the characters & writing), here are a handful of songs from the show (each episode includes brief musical numbers, all of which are consistently great):
