rachg82: (Naughty Booth)

All right, guys, I've got a mission for this entry. I have exactly one hour before I need to get ready to go shopping with my sister this afternoon, and I'm going to test myself to see if I'm able to finish an entry in that amount of time. I keep writing and deleting what I write lately (hello, perfectionist), causing me to take a million years to finish one silly entry, and it's just gotta stop. So. Today I get one hour, and if this entry has typos or isn't perfect, well then so be it.

Today I'll be delivering the post-Bones squeeage I promised, plus give some quick comments on other shows I watched this week. *sets timer* It's go-time, yo! Hee.

Real quick first though: Have you guys heard that there is going to be a Sweet Valley High movie? I got a little too excited when I heard that, not gonna lie. Ha. I was so into those books as a kid though, like really. Not only did I read the high school ones, I also read the books about them as little kids, and the university series (which I was completely obsessed with, btw). I even watched the short-lived tv show for crying out loud. It was totally Fandom-Crazy Rachael, Version 1.0. And I'd be embarassed by this admission, but I don't have nearly enough shame for that. Heh. Seriously though, who here from their late twenties and older didn't read those books? Everyone I knew as a kid was into them. So yeah, I'm sure the movie will completely suck, but I will totally be at least renting it. Heh. Especially if they set it in the late eighties/early nineties time period it was meant for, so we can all revel in the cheese-tastic Valley Girl drama & fashions. Which they'd better, because I can't imagine my Wakefield twins with cell phones and shit. It just wouldn't be right.

1. First up, Bones:

-THIS EPISODE WAS SO GROSS. Like, holy shit. I was watching some of it with my hands in front of my eyes. THE CATS, OH MY GOD. Haha. I honestly think the show is just blatantly trying to one-up past gross-outs at this point. They're like, "I see your fatty tissue in the bathtub of acid, and I raise you one cat eating a corpse."

-My season 4 pet-peeve of Cam and the interns doing most of the work with the bones came back a little in this episode, gotta say. Brennan did show up some (more than in some of the episodes last season, to be fair), but it was mostly just to oversee the work already being done. Where's the Bones of season 1, with her "uncanny ability to read clues left behind in the bones of the victims" (as my DVDs say, heh)? Most of the time these days (minus the premiere), she usually just takes a quick look at the body at the crime scene, and then pops into the lab once or twice throughout the case to check if anything's been missed. Is this something any of you have noticed, or agree with? Am I just being nitpicky?

-Tsk tsk to Angela on calling Brennan out like that on the money thing. Emily Post would not approve, I'm sure. The polite thing would've been to let Bones decide on her own if she wanted to donate money, or to have simply asked "how can we help?" She had her heart in the right place though.

-Loved all the Wendell-concern, and thought it was really sweet how they all chipped in anonymously to help him out. Also, all the scenes of them being super nice to him were funny. Hee. "Heeeeeey, dude! What's new?" Wendell's face was so "WTF are you people on?" Ha.

-Loved the characterization of both Booth and Brennan. Still seeing more seriousness from both of them, and still loving it. Booth is back to being a capable FBI agent, and Brennan is being allowed to show her emotions while remaining in character. Good stuff.

-"I don't take credit cards."<---this made me laugh out loud. Brennan! I love you.

-Looooooved Brennan taking Sweets' advice about asking Booth to teach her plumbing. I was so proud of her for that!

-Hodgins and his conspiracy theories. Always fun. Also? Who doesn't enjoy a reference to "Everybody Poops"?

-Booth & Brennan teasing Sweets. I ALWAYS love it when we get that. It just makes me laugh. Sweets' reactions are always hilarious too. That actor is so much fun.

-The case. I was actually interested in what the result would be. That's a lot more than I can say for most of the cases last year.

-Brennan was so pretty in this ep. I mean, she's always pretty, but she's been just gorgeous so far this season. Her hair, her eyes, her makeup, her clothes, yes yes yes and yes. Moar plz. Hee. I also like her eyebrows. Is that a weird thing to notice? Probably, huh? Heh. I also have a thing for her ears. What? They're cute! *is strange*

-Booth/Brennan, oh my God. Like, you knew I'd be getting to this one eventually. The looks! The soft-eyed looks! And the smiles! And the talk of trust, and money! And HELLO, the plumbing! I wasn't even flailing during that scene, because I was too busy watching with my mouth open, dead-still. Ha. THAT WAS SO HOT, GUYS. With the hand-touching, and Brennan's sexy laugh, and the reach-around to turn on the water, and the deep gazing, and the. . .*fans self*. Yeah. And can I just say, that Brennan? WAS TOTALLY GIVING HIM THE "GO AHEAD AND KISS ME" OPENING. Like, more than once. I am totally standing by my assessment a while back that Booth is not nearly as ready to make a move on her as the fandom has assumed. He is scared. Because seriously, the looks she was giving him, and the soft tone in her voice, and the "I feel close to you" and everything? It was like "JUST KISS HER, YOU FOOL." But he totally backed away. Aw, Booth. Don't be scurred! Hee.

Oh, and one more thing: Can one of the fic-authors on my flist please, please, pretty please write me a post-ep fic for that scene? I cannot believe I haven't seen any. I'm telling you, if that scene had happened in the X-Files world, we would've had twenty fics within a day all about Scully being soaking wet, and Mulder needing to give her a change in clothes, and sexytimes ensuing. Because honestly the XF fandom was full of dirty pervs, haha. Like, really. So yes, Bones fandom, please don't leave me hanging. You know you want to write this fic. YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO. Don't resist the PWPs, they are good for your soul. Hee.

In summation, despite the minor gripe above, I really liked this ep. Two thumbs up for the ep overall, and a side of Shipper Flail for that last scene in particular. *fans self again*

Glee

-Not a fan of the fake pregnancy storyline. I hate stories like that, because I get all "nooo, you're gonna get caught!" over them. Heh. Like, in "While You Were Sleeping"? I spent the entire time going "Stop lying! They are going to catch you! Agh!" It's just a thing with me. I'm a weirdo. Hee. Also, it's just kind of cheesy & unrealistic anyway. So hopefully they don't drag it on too long.

-The coming out storyline. Loved it. "I've known since you were three." Ha!

-Alllll the single ladies. I'm still hearing it in my head. I would be way more interested in football if dances like that happened in real life.

House

-The portrayal of the mentally ill patients: So dumb. Also, please tell the show creators that if they'd like to know what a bipolar patient acts like when they're admitted into a psych ward, they can come ask me. Because God knows I've seen it more than once (hi, Mom). And it ain't like what they were showing, trust me.

-Aside from that though, the rest of the episode was really interesting and enjoyable I thought. Despite the fact that the woman was married & I knew it was doomed (and despite the fact that I do ship him and Cuddy, as screwed up as they are), I really liked her and House together. The scene when they were making love and he was crying? That was beautiful.

-Hugh Laurie in general in this ep was pretty much ace. Great acting. I loved seeing House's more vulnerable side. I'm sure it'll mostly be forgotten once he's back at his job, and he's back to simply being rude and funny, but it made for some good drama in the meantime. I particularly liked when he apologized to the other patient. I was like "aw, House, good for you!"

Dollhouse

-this one started out a little confusing for me, especially because I couldn't remember why Ballard was working there (I need to watch last season's finale again), but by the end I was into it. I liked that this time the "client" didn't actually know he was with a doll. If they start incorporating things like this, it'll open up a lot of new ideas for plots.

-The guest actors. I didn't know we were going to get both Alexis Denisof and Jamie Bamber in the same episode. I was disappointed Alexis' role was so small though, but Jamie was great. I thought it was kind of funny too hearing Alexis without his fake accent while hearing Jamie with his real one. Hee.

-They made Dewitt cut her hair! Oh noes! But she's still sexy, so it's all good. Heh.

-Amy Acker was SO GOOD in this episode. I always thought she was a phenomenal actress on Angel, and I'm so glad she's being allowed to shine again. Love her so much.

-Topher is becoming less annoying and more multi-dimensional. I appreciate that.

-Echo kicking ass at the end. You guys know I love girls kicking ass. It still wasn't as bad-ass as the fight scene between her and Ballard in the kitchen last season, but it'll do.

-"I am all of them, but none of them are me."<---this intrigues me. I'm excited to see where they'll go with this development.

-"I am running out. . .of excuses." I really liked that and also the conversation between Amy Acker's character and Topher earlier in the ep. He didn't program her to hate him, but she did anyway. I love the way this show plays with the questions of who we are as people, how our experiences shape or change us, and how much of who we are is who we were built to be. And of course you guys know I love the moral ambiguities of "is it ethical to do this to people, even if they volunteer for it?" The whole thing is a complete mindfuck, and I totally love it.

Lastly, Mad Men

All I have to say is this: BEWARE OF SECRETARIES AND LAWNMOWERS. Haha. I was half watching it at first (while my DVR was recording it. I went back and watched it in full later) and turned to the screen at that moment like "WHAAAAAT THE FUCK? OH MY GOD!" Ha.

Aaaaand now I'm done. I think I took exactly an hour and ten minutes. She shoots, she scores, ladies and gentlemen! Hee.

For our vid of the day, we're going with an Angel one, in honor of the Amy Acker lovage above. This one is by Drewd006 and is all about Angel season 5. It's a little dark (lighting wise), but watching it full-screen helps that. Either way, it's still good. Enjoy!

Edited to add: How could I forget How I Met Your Mother? I don't have a whole lot more to add that others haven't already said though. I'll just say this: the spelling thing? Cracked me up. Also: Indiana Jones whip! Marshall is officially my favorite character, next to Barney. They both make me laugh so hard.
