Do you guys ever get the feeling in life that you keep screwing things up, and you can't stop? I'm kind of feeling that way right now. I missed work again today, and would like to pretend like it's no big deal, but it is. My boss emailed me and said we'd have to meet when I come back tomorrow. I am. . not looking forward to it. I kind of want to go hide somewhere, honestly. I woke up late today, felt headachey and sick from my period, and just could *not* get myself to go in, especially since if I did it would've meant showing up late, which I HATE doing. I'm the kind of irrational person who would sometimes prefer not showing up at all, which I know makes absolutely no sense. If I haven't been late or missed work in a long time, I can handle it, but if I've already been late and/or missed recently AND I don't feel good, it makes it much harder for me. And now I seem to be in this cycle lately where I can't manage to go even a month without missing (and that's being generous) and I would not blame my boss even a little if he fired me. I mean, I'm a great employee when I'm there, which is why I've never been fired from a job in my 28 years of life, but this seems to be a pattern with me at every job I have, and I'm stuck in it again. If it's not the migraines, it's my stomach. And if it's not either of those, it's some random flu bug that I get from my coworkers or whatever. Plus obviously it doesn't help that I've had a ginormous amount of stress from my family lately. Which he knows about, but he doesn't know the details. And I'm worried that even if he has no plans to fire me, he'll want to talk about what's been going on with my family, and I really don't want to. It's just too much, and I'm afraid I'll tear up in front of him or something. I don't even want to talk about what I'm planning on doing about the migraines. I don't want to talk about any of it. I just want to bury my head in the sand and ignore the problems until they go away. Can I please just do that? No? Damn.

Okay, I'm done being emo now. Thanks for listening. (although I will just add that my head? Still hurting right now. And it's pissing me off. Ugh. All right, NOW I'm done whining. For real this time.)

Moving on, I wanted to get your guys' feedback on something. Since the Shipper Showdown was such a blast, I was thinking of planning another type of fandom-related event toward the end of the spring/beginning of summer for my flist, and I wanted to see if it's something you all would enjoy.

Here's the basic idea: You guys submit to me your favorite shows that you think other people should watch over the summer/tv hiatus. We then spend a day with people going buck-wild promoting their shows. Throughout the day, everyone uses a ticky-box poll to select whatever shows they've been convinced to try out because of all the insane fangirly fervor, and at the end of the day we take whatever top 3 shows get the most votes & announce them as the winners. I'm thinking we can call it the ~Fangirl Fest of Conversion~. Or the FFoC for short. Hee. I thought of it because one of the things I loved most about FMM wasn't simply the competing, but also the simple exchange of obsessions. I like sharing my tv-loves with others, and I'm pretty sure a good chunk of you do too (except you, [livejournal.com profile] jasminelily, hee. I know how you feel about people trying to convert you to new shows!). Plus my flist encompasses a pretty decent amount of different (and very dedicated) fandoms, and the idea of a free-for-all where everyone gets to celebrate those fandoms sounds like an unbelievable amount of fun. Especially since no one would be required to choose only one show to campaign for, and I imagine lots of new friendships would probably be made. So, what do you guys think? If we do it toward the end of the current tv season--so all you youngins are finished with your schoolwork and everyone has lots o' free time ahead to check out new shows--would you be interested?

Lastly, I got some pictures developed the other day and I thought I'd share them with you guys. There's a couple I took of the Epic Winter Storm we had a while back (read: the few surprise inches of snow we got that one day that caused all of Portland to FALL THE FUCK APART) as well as some of my nephew, niece, and sister (and one crappy one of me too, heh). Oh yeah, and I added captions to them because I'm addicted to doing that now. I have too much time on my hands. Heh.

For our Vid of the Day, we're gonna steal from [livejournal.com profile] sumpta's awesome supply of recommendations from the Shipper Showdown again, because they are cracktasticly wonderful (and because I'm still riding high on the A/R love). This one is by culinarycricket & takes a lol-arious look at one of my favorite scenes from BSG. Enjoy the man!love swagger:

I think that's a fantastic idea. Summer is for finding shows to watch. I mean, that is how I found Bones. And Fastlane.

Love the pics and the captions. Isabella, the picture hider. Also, Nai does the no smile thing now. So annoying. It's like they don't want to be cute anymore or something.

I hope the meeting with your boss is less scary than you think.

Absolutely. I mean, who needs all that "going outdoors" business, anyway?

What cracked me up the most is that she has the pictures in her hand is basically every shot. Ha. She likes to hide other things too though, usually my remotes. IT'S LIKE SHE KNOWS MY WEAKNESS.

And seriously, WTF is up with these little kids who think they're too cool to smile? That's when I catch Jayden in a "Tia Trap," which involves a surprise attack of involuntary hugging until he admits he's cute. Usually works.

I hope the meeting with your boss is less scary than you think

I actually had a horrible migraine today (way worse than yesterday), and it's only now finally easing up, so I don't know yet what he'll have to say. I didn't even get to go to my appointment with the counselor, because it didn't go away in time. SUCKS.

I'm glad you agree! If you hadn't, I would've just reminded you that it'd allow you to go balls-out trying to finally force me to give Fringe another chance! And then I knew you'd be all over it. Heh.

Awww, cutie Izzie & Jayden

Can you believe we've known each other since before my sister was even pregnant with him? CRAZY. How did he get so big?!

EEP, I hope your boss is kind

I hope so too. I had an even worse migraine today, that's just now (at 5:30 in the evening) finally wearing off. I'm just reminding myself that whatever he says isn't personal, it's professional, and try to be calm about it.

Also, your niece and nephew are really cute! :-)

And as for the "Fangirl Fest of Conversion"... I'm totally in. And hope I'll have enough time for it and to promote THE SHIT OUT OF my shows!

I talked with him some already, but won't have the one-on-one until next week, as he told me to just take the rest of the week off as my migraine kept coming back. The good news is I'm not fired, but the bad news is I think I'm at the last stage before I could be, or at least that they're taking it very seriously.

Also, your niece and nephew are really cute!

They're so cute it's ridiculous. Especially because their personalities are equally as cute. It's actually painful to be around them sometimes, like you just want to clutch your heart & go "I can't take it! STOP BEING SO ADORABLE!" Heh. I may be slightly biased here though.

And as for the "Fangirl Fest of Conversion"... I'm totally in

Woooooord. I'm so excited for it already.
