All right, my lovely flist, the Shipper Showdown is officially over and your votes have been counted. May I have a drumroll please?

A huge thank you to everyone who participated, whether it was just to vote (even those of you who voted for more than one pairing, thus totally making your votes moot. Ha) or leave a comment, and a GIANT shout-out to those of you who hung out all day campaigning and making this showdown a complete blast for me. Three of you in particular--[livejournal.com profile] sumpta, [livejournal.com profile] crystalcazzie, and [livejournal.com profile] softly_me--pwned the shit out of this thing by taking my request for spam to a WHOLE 'nother level. Haha. Seriously, you guys kick epic amounts of ass and are legit my homegirls now.

Also, just for the record, the following new developments have sprung from today's shippery shenanigans:

-I will be checking out Farscape in the near future (this is thanks to you, [livejournal.com profile] careyleah)

-I will also be checking out NCIS ([livejournal.com profile] crystalcazzie, that one's all you)

-It's possible I may have added Buffy/Xander to my list of never-ending ships for Buffy (damn yoooooou, [livejournal.com profile] softly_me! Like I needed another ship!)

-Adama & Roslin took over the throne of #1 ship for me about midway through the campaign, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sumpta and her mighty arsenal of thread bombs, .gifs, vids, references to nekkid sexytimes, and cruelly adorable pics & quotes (she quoted him reading to her at me! How was I supposed to resist THAT?). I still maintain that Mulder & Scully are my favorite old-school ship, and will always be #1 in my heart in many ways, but she held me down until I cried uncle and admitted that Adama/Roslin are the most perfect ship in my eyes. Which they are. But I feel like I need to go hug my X-Files DVDs and apologize to them or something. Haha. I HAVE ISSUES. (but hey, at least I got in a good deal of campaigning for Moose & Squirrel before then! Which either makes me a bigger traitor, or less of a traitor. I'm not sure. Heh)

Anyway, that's about it for tonight, because I've seriously been at this computer almost non-stop since 8 o'clock this morning. Aside from doing some laundry & making dinner, I really haven't moved much. If my neck had a hand, it'd probably be flipping me the bird right about now. Just sayin'.

(oh, and speaking of my total lack of productiveness today. . .that goal for finishing the epic Roslin picspam I mentioned by Tuesday? Yeah, I doubt that's gonna happen. Heh. But for sure I imagine I can have it done sometime this week. I figure the week of the anniversary still counts, right?)

Finally, before I go I will leave you all with a two-for-one-special Vid of the Day to celebrate our fine winners. These (along with a few others you can bet your asses I'll be reccing in the near future) were both posted by Ms. Thang up there in her comments today, and are too good not to pass along.

Vid #1: This one's by gglagazelle (or claraon, depending on whether you go by the name in the vid or the youtube name), and is just about one of the cutest, crackiest things I've ever seen. It's also the reason why I haven't been able to get "Bare Necessities" out of my head all day. Thanks for that. (psst, [livejournal.com profile] treeofstars, I know you in particular will love this one).

Vid #2: This one is by pennyfeline and straight-up moved me to tears, no lie. Between the perfect song and the "I'm right here" from Roslin and the "I like it so much I don't want it to be over" quote from Adama at the end as they're walking off? GAH. I may tear up all over again, for real. So, yeah, it's a wonderful vid to end this day on, and I hope you all enjoy. :-)

Do you guys ever get the feeling in life that you keep screwing things up, and you can't stop? Cut for whining )

Moving on, I wanted to get your guys' feedback on something. Since the Shipper Showdown was such a blast, I was thinking of planning another type of fandom-related event toward the end of the spring/beginning of summer for my flist, and I wanted to see if it's something you all would enjoy.

Here's the basic idea: You guys submit to me your favorite shows that you think other people should watch over the summer/tv hiatus. We then spend a day with people going buck-wild promoting their shows. Throughout the day, everyone uses a ticky-box poll to select whatever shows they've been convinced to try out because of all the insane fangirly fervor, and at the end of the day we take whatever top 3 shows get the most votes & announce them as the winners. I'm thinking we can call it the ~Fangirl Fest of Conversion~. Or the FFoC for short. Hee. I thought of it because one of the things I loved most about FMM wasn't simply the competing, but also the simple exchange of obsessions. I like sharing my tv-loves with others, and I'm pretty sure a good chunk of you do too (except you, [livejournal.com profile] jasminelily, hee. I know how you feel about people trying to convert you to new shows!). Plus my flist encompasses a pretty decent amount of different (and very dedicated) fandoms, and the idea of a free-for-all where everyone gets to celebrate those fandoms sounds like an unbelievable amount of fun. Especially since no one would be required to choose only one show to campaign for, and I imagine lots of new friendships would probably be made. So, what do you guys think? If we do it toward the end of the current tv season--so all you youngins are finished with your schoolwork and everyone has lots o' free time ahead to check out new shows--would you be interested?

Lastly, I got some pictures developed the other day and I thought I'd share them with you guys. There's a couple I took of the Epic Winter Storm we had a while back (read: the few surprise inches of snow we got that one day that caused all of Portland to FALL THE FUCK APART) as well as some of my nephew, niece, and sister (and one crappy one of me too, heh). Oh yeah, and I added captions to them because I'm addicted to doing that now. I have too much time on my hands. Heh.

Pictures, pictures, get your pictures here )

For our Vid of the Day, we're gonna steal from [livejournal.com profile] sumpta's awesome supply of recommendations from the Shipper Showdown again, because they are cracktasticly wonderful (and because I'm still riding high on the A/R love). This one is by culinarycricket & takes a lol-arious look at one of my favorite scenes from BSG. Enjoy the man!love swagger:
